How to make the most of your giving
Business giving has the power to be truly transformative to thousands of charities working across the UK and worldwide. It also has the power to transform your own business. In today’s super competitive environment, strong relationships with customers, suppliers and employees are more important than ever. Giving through your business shows your values in action and will deepen those all-important connections.
So, tell the world about your giving through Work for Good and reap the rewards — whether it’s happier staff, more productive conversations with clients, or stronger bonds with your customers that lead to more repeat business.
Read on for more ideas for how can you make the most of your giving.
1. Set up your profile page on our website
Then share it with clients and spread the word. If you want, you can make your target public and let people track the impact you’re making. The more visible and transparent you can make your giving, the better.
2. Make a statement with the charities you choose
Who you choose to support will say something about your business. If local connections are important, choose a well-loved local charity. There may be a charity whose mission directly relates to your business purpose, for example, a tech company supporting an IT related charity. Or it may be a very personal story you want to tell, such as our founder Rupert’s desire to support the Evelina Children’s Hospital.
3. Download the Work for Good mark
Then show it off on your website, email signatures, proposals and anything else you can think of, to show the world what you stand for. It’s a great way to start new conversations and get your business noticed.
4. Blog, tweet, make it social
Post your giving stories on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Mention us and we’ll spread your stories further
5. Use Work for Good as a networking tool
We all need a good introduction when it comes to networking. Mention your giving as part of that all-important elevator pitch or magic minute. It’s great to have something different to say and people will take notice.
Talking about how we Work for Good at networking events is so much more interesting than payroll! Dena Dixon, Pay-Nex, Work for Good member since November 2016.
6. Involve your clients or employees in the giving process
People love to get involved in making a difference, especially when they get to choose a cause close to their heart. It’s a great way to deepen client relationships or to engage and motivate your team. They can choose directly through our website.
