About us
The Young People's Trust for the Environment is a charity set up to encourage young people's understanding of the environment. Founded back in 1982, it aims to give young people a real awareness of environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, deforestation and endangered flora & fauna. It also aims to provide balanced views to take into account the realities of the modern world. Sustainable development - industry with less impact - is the way forward. Whilst we work directly with schools in Dorset and Somerset, the internet has enabled us to reach huge numbers of young people and teachers. Our website, which contains information on hundreds of species and environmental issues, is visited by around 1.2 million people per year, whilst teachers download enough of our free lesson plans to reach a further 900,000 young people per year in the classroom. Your support can help us to create even more educational resources for young people and schools - not just lesson plans, but also fact sheets, videos and even online games!
