About us

Waverley Care was founded in 1989 in response to the growing HIV epidemic in Edinburgh. With Milestone House - the UK’s first purpose-built AIDS hospice - we supported those dying of AIDS to have dignity in their final weeks and days. The advent of new drug treatments shifted Waverley Care’s work from palliative to preventative care.

Now Scotland is on track to be one of the first countries in the world to achieve zero HIV transmissions by 2030, and Waverley Care will play an essential role in getting us there.
