Wildlife Rescue - Buzzard

Check out this brilliant Buzzard rescue 🦅👀

It was reported by Michael Boyd from Narrowwater eEuestrian who kept a very close eye on it over a period of days, noticing that it appeared unable to fly very well.

So, after making a call to the USPCA, our team went to safely retrieve the injured bird!

The USPCA veterinary team, identified that the buzzard had a wing injury but thankfully it wasn’t broken. It spent a few weeks at the USPCA centre, getting its strength back before being released back at Narrow Water Equestrian Centre.🦅🙌

We are pleased to report that Michael has been keeping a diligent eye on it daily and has informed us that it is doing well. Thank you to Michael and everyone involved at Narrow Water Equestrian Centre.

About us

The USPCA are a charity based in Northern Ireland, we were founded in 1836. Our missions have remained the same; to strive for the prevention of cruelty to animals, to provide relief of suffering in animals and the advancement of animal welfare.

We offer services that that help us achieve these missions. To prevent cruelty to animals we offer reduced veterinary costs to those on financial aid, provide pet food parcels to foodbanks around Northern Ireland and offer educational talks to schools and colleges. We also offer social rehoming, for those who are faced with having to give up their animal due to a change in circumstances.

To help relief suffering in animals we perform many animal rescues, in 2019/22 we did 168 wildlife rescues and we also offer veterinary vouchers to help cover the cost of any treatment wildlife may receive at other veterinary practices, in 2019/22 816 vouchers were issued.

To help advance animal welfare, the USPCA are strong advocates for additional protections for all animals within Northern Ireland. We are keen to see new laws introduced to help strengthen the protection that animals receive. These include but are not limited to; Lucy's law, to help stop puppy farming, banning hunting with dogs and an introduction of a Banned Offenders Register to prevent those banned from keeping animals obtaining more animals.
