At UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, we support veterans with hearing loss, tinnitus and mental health.
Hearing loss is a widespread condition amongst ex-service people – but one which frequently goes unnoticed:
• Veterans are 3.5 times more likely to suffer from hearing loss than those who have not served in the Armed Forces • Statistics show that some 300,000 ex-service people living in the UK suffer from hearing loss. For example, some 69% of all Royal Marine Commandos who served in Afghanistan are experiencing severe or permanent hearing damage • The support currently provided by the NHS unfortunately does not meet veterans’ hearing needs.
