Our Year 2022: The difference YOU made
We might already be nearly six months in 2023 (how did that happen?!), but we wanted to share some of our key impacts that you have helped us to achieve in 2022 . In 2022 you made a huge difference to families across the UK by choosing to support Tommy's through your wonderful business. Our community of small businesses is so special to us here at Tommy's and we cannot do what we do without you!
We know it's not been easy for small businesses over the last few years and we are so grateful for your continued commitment to saving babies' lives. With you by our side we will keep working in 2023 to reduce inequalities, end avoidable baby loss, and give every family and their baby the safest possible pregnancy and birth.
Our new 10 year strategy - #TogetherWeCan
In May 2023 we launched our new 10-year strategy #TogetherWeCan. We believe it’s inclusive, it’s designed to be courageous, and it defines who we are as an organisation.
Every word of this new strategy reflects the passion of our researchers, clinicians, key supporters, and Tommy’ people. In the 30 years since we began, and thanks to so many amazing individuals who’ve worked with us and supported us, such as our small business community, we’ve made huge progress in making pregnancy and birth safer for everyone.
Without the strength and power of our small business community, we couldn’t do what we do. Whether it’s breaking the silence around loss through bravely sharing your stories or raising money that means new research studies or clinical trials are possible, you have stood by and supported us in ensuring that more families can bring their baby home.
Our new strategy will guide every part of our work over the next decade. It will give us focus and make sure that even in challenging times our work can have the greatest possible impact.

We’re really excited about our new strategy and hoping that you will join us together to stop the heartbreak and devastation of baby loss and make pregnancy and birth safer- for everyone.
If you have any questions or feedback about our new strategy, please contact Lauren at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know!
Rubie and Ben's Story:
After experiencing 2 miscarriages, Rubie and Ben sought the support of 3 Tommy's clinics. Following months of research and investigation, as well as the support of Tommy's professors and midwives, Rubie and Ben welcomed their double rainbow baby, Coco.
The couple were seen by Professor Shennan's team of consultants and nurses at St Thomas' Hospital in London every two weeks until 25 weeks and decided to travel to London to remain in the care of the team throughout their pregnancy.
“Our journey to our rainbow baby was only made possible with the help of others; particularly 3 different Tommy's clinics” "Although we could have transferred back to our local hospital and avoided the 1.5-hour drive through central London traffic on labour day, and the 4-hour round trips to have check-ups, our care at St Thomas’ had been outstanding throughout our pregnancy, so we decided to remain in their care." You can read the full story here.
At Tommy's we can only continue to support other families such as Rubie and Ben with people like you by our side. Your generosity is allowing us to research breakthroughs, support families throughout their pregnancy journeys, and care for people who have experienced pregnancy complications and baby loss.
Thank you for standing by us and giving more families hope that one day they will bring home their baby.
'Shine a Spotlight': West London Pick and Mix
Every quarter we will be 'shining a spotlight' on one of our small businesses as part of a series to celebrate all the fabulous work that you do and showcase the main reason behind why you donate to Tommy's.
This quarter we are celebrating the work of West London Pick and Mix who are a small business based in West Ealing offering over 35 variants of delicious sweets as part of their pick & mix collection.
Phoebe Donegan is the owner of West London Pick and Mix and she has kindly shared her reason for why she kindly donates 5% of her sales to Tommy's:
"I donate for my daughter, Maggie, who couldn't be saved but lives forever in our hearts; and for all other parents like me. For me, there couldn't be a worthier cause."
We are so grateful to be working with West London Pick and Mix and our other small businesses in making it as easy as possible to donate to our charity. Thank you for being part of the Tommy's community, positive change is happening and it wouldn't be possible without supporters like you. If you would like to be featured in our October series, please send an email to email@example.com explaining the work that you do and why you have chosen to donate to Tommy's.
