About us

The Talent Foundry is an education charity set up in 2009, dedicated to opening the doors of opportunity to disadvantaged young people nationally.

We are founded on two core beliefs and these underpin all our work:

Firstly, we believe that everyone has something they can be amazing at. They just need to discover what that is, and we can help them do that.

Secondly, we believe that all young people deserve equal opportunities in life, regardless of their background or financial circumstances. This can be a challenge if families are not able help them access a network of contacts or if young people lack positive role models in their lives. In addition, many schools lack the resources to help their students achieve their goals, develop new skills and unlock hidden talents.

Why now?

The effect of the pandemic was felt the hardest in the disadvantaged communities we work in. Covid wiped out a decade of progress in improving social mobility. Our long-term strategy for supporting talented young people comes at the time when you are still 60% more likely to be in a professional job if you were from a privileged background rather than from a working-class background.

This evidence, set alongside the UK's acute skills shortage and ageing workforce, means that The Talent Foundry, with its partners - organisations like yours - can make a huge difference in shaping young people's futures. With the right inspirational and targeted support young people can identify and access meaningful careers which will change their lives.

We tackle these socio-economic challenges every day by working in partnership with schools, corporates and civil society organisations to ensure that young people have every opportunity to fulfil their potential.

By 2025 we will be working towards our millionth interaction, helping talented young people to find what they are amazing at.

Your support will help us to:

  • continue to work in partnership with corporate organisations who can help develop young people's skills, knowledge and confidence to be independent citizens;

  • pilot and roll-out an intensive pre-apprenticeship development programme to support young people into entry-level roles;

  • deliver our annual Rock Assembly event to inspire young people about the limitless possibilities of the world of work; and

  • develop and test new employability opportunities with those who are most disadvantaged to level the playing field of opportunity.
