We do this by pioneering sustainable, grassroots, women-centred strategies and advocating for their widespread adoption in countries throughout the world. We comprise of 13 Programme countries across rural Africa, South Asia and Latin America and 12 Partner countries.

World Hunger Day 2023

More than 800 million people are hungry.

And yet a third of all food is wasted.

Sunday 28 May is World Hunger Day, an opportunity for all of us around the world to play our part in ending world hunger, for good. Sundays are for getting together with your family and friends. For sharing a meal together, and sharing stories.

We want you to make Sunday 28 May extra special! Host a Sustainable Supper with loved ones and raise funds to end hunger, for good.

The Hunger Project x Dock & Bay

We’ve partnered with Dock & Bay and the London-based artist, Eloisa Henderson-Figueroa on two special, limited edition towels featuring her marvellous murals! For each towel sold, Dock & Bay will donate 20% of the profit to The Hunger Project, to help with our work of ending hunger & poverty across the world. We believe hungry people themselves are the key to ending hunger.

Once empowered, there is no one more determined, more willing and more capable to end their own hunger. We work to unleash their vision, commitment and leadership so they can lift themselves and their families above the poverty line.

The Hunger Project’s approach focuses on four key areas:

WHAT YOUR INVESTMENT CAN DO

£25 could support a community in Africa planting trees, which provide sources of food, energy and income. £50 could support one female entrepreneur with a microfinance loan and training so she can start a small business to support her family. £75 could train a group of 100 people in maternal and child health and nutrition in Africa. £100 could support a group of women to start an income-generating project, like a poultry farm so they can provide for their families.

THE FACTS

Of the 783 million people in the world live in hunger in 2022, the majority are women. 99% of people living in hunger are in low and middle income countries. Despite women being responsible for 90% of preparing and buying food, they are eating last and least.

People across the world are rallying together to highlight how the power of transforming mindsets, leadership development, and training are key to ending hunger and poverty.
