About us
Every day produces new challenges and we work together to overcome them. “Teamwork makes Henry’s Dream work” and “Hope, Dream, Believe” are part of our everyday language. No family should face the horrible and traumatic journey that cancer inflicts, and The Henry Allen Trust is there for these families from initial contact, all the way through the rest of their journey, be it treatment, remission or palliative/end of life care and beyond. We can’t wave a magic wand and make it all better, but we can be there to support and guide these families through.
We also work alongside hospitals to improve their services and have already seen major changes and improvements thanks to the collaboration between us and the hospitals that we work with. We have formed a strong bond with the staff and are in regular contact with them at 11 hospitals across England and have plans to expand this to more hospitals throughout the UK.
Each month Team Henry hold a THAT support, which allows all the families we support to come and enjoy time together in a social environment. We extend this to the whole family, siblings, grandparents, aunties and uncles are all welcome to attend. We fund this entirely through our fundraising and donations. At every THAT support we also provide the families with refreshments and food so they can take a much-needed time out to enjoy quality family time together.
Our annual events calendar includes a family fun day every August, a ball every September and a fireworks night every November. We also have an Easter egg appeal and a Christmas stocking appeal. Through these we receive donations of themed items such as eggs, toys, activity packs, selection boxes etc which we then distribute to hospitals and the families we support. On Christmas day, Team Henry, Santa and his naughty Elf attend 2 of the hospitals we support to spread some “Henry’s Happiness” and distribute stockings and gifts. Similarly, at Easter, Team Henry and the Easter Bunny go to a few of the hospitals we support and distribute Easter eggs. We also have a group of individuals, Henry's Helpers who knit and sew items to support the appeals making knitted Christmas pudding chocolate orange covers and chicks for cream eggs.
Our amazing Henry's Helpers also make wiggly bags for children’s hickman lines and create them using themed fabrics including Disney, animals and other fun coloured fabrics. They also make waterproof ones so the children can still have showers and a play in the bath without the worry of getting them wet and infected.
This is just a snapshot of all the hard work that goes on within The Henry Allen Trust and we hope you will consider choosing us for your donation.
