The Friends of The Milestone School

Our Friends charity was created to support The Milestone School, one of the largest special needs schools in the country and designated a Specialist School for Communication and Interaction. The school & associated charity aims to remove obstacles and enable access to learning with each child having an individual plan according to his or her very specific needs.

About us

The Friends Charity makes such a difference to the pupils of The Milestone (SEN) School, Gloucester. Like all schools, including SEND, this one needs HELP! The Friends underpin some extra-curricular activities which help prepare the pupils for life post-16, offer enjoyment for some very significantly challenged children & support for their troubled families. This extra funding means many more of these CAN & WILL BE provided. Friends is a trusty prop for this excellent 325 pupil (age 2-16) school, educating and caring for all with Significant, Minor or Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulty and a range of physical, neural, genetic and sensory conditions. All pupils need some support. Some are on the Autistic spectrum, others are visually/hearing impaired, wheelchair reliant (1 in 6)/physically disabled or exhibit communication and/or behavioural difficulty. Further supported are those with the genetic conditions, Down's syndrome and epilepsy.
