Key Worker Counselling Service Project

Key Worker Counselling Service Project

As a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we launched a scheme offering six free counselling sessions to key workers living in Dorset and Somerset. We  saw the pressures key workers were facing and wanted to help them to continue to be able to help others. The scheme has been an amazing success and since its launch in May last year, we have provided counselling to 85 key workers including police, NHS staff, teachers, care home staff and members of the armed forces. An example of one of the many positive comments we have received is:

"As a newcomer to counselling, I have been delighted with the benefits that it has brought.  This year has been tough for many of us and I have looked forward to my sessions with my counsellor who has supported me with both underlying issues that have been troubling me for many years as well as more immediate challenges.  The feeling that my counsellor totally understood my worries was hugely strengthening and the exercises that we did together have helped me to recognise positive aspects of myself and my life.  I am enormously grateful to my counsellor  and to the Dorchester Trust for giving me this wonderful opportunity."
