The Archway Storytelling Project

Archway has been supporting people throughout the pandemic.

We wanted to hear from people what difference that support has made in their lives and to learn about what being involved with Archway has meant to people.

In order to do this, we set up a storytelling project and listened to the voices of Archway Friends by collecting their stories of this time. The report of what we heard and found is here for you to read.

About us

In normal times regular supportive social contact is provided through an Individual Support Service and several Supportive Social Groups, with subsidised transport for those unable to access independently. Currently, emotional support and social connection is made through a telephone support service and a monthly Newsletter. We are now starting smaller social gatherings from May 2023.

We still have some way to go to fund the core costs of running Archway for this year (which runs from July to June) but examples of additional costs we have to fund are the Bright Side magazine at c£7,500 for the year and “Goody Bags” at Christmas or Easter are around £3,000 each time, excluding staff time and travel expenses.

The Archway Foundation is celebrating its 40^th year in 2022. It employs 10 staff (6 fte), has 300 service users (known as Friends), and 100 volunteers. Whilst individuals can self-refer, the majority come via Mental Health Teams, Adult Social Care, Social Prescribers and voluntary organisations.
