About us

We're a team of mothers, infant psychologists and charity sector workers who believe in giving back. The Aidie Trust was founded in 2020 by Seffie Wells after a painful personal experience in which she became all to aware of the need for support for babies in domestic abuse refuges in the UK. Shockingly, the rate of admissions to women's shelters in 2020 was so high that women had to be turned away due to lack of space. It's estimated that 28% of women who flee their homes from domestic abuse, do so with a child under the age of two. Our role is to support these mothers to help care for their babies following traumatic periods. We provide essential baby supplies including babygrows, blankets and booties as well as offer grants. We also issue informative care packs with contributions from UNICEF UK's Baby Friendly Initiative. Our care packs help our beneficiaries to understand the best ways to care for their babies during this difficult time and teachniques for mitigating the effects of exposure to abuse.
