What success at Stella's Voice looks like

My name is Aurica. I came to Stella's Voice in 2009 right after I finished the orphanage in Straseni. During my years at Stella's Voice I completed my schooling and graduated from university with a degree in Business Administration.

During my time at Stella's Voice I learned so many things and I have matured throughout the years I have been there. It has truly been the best opportunity someone from an orphanage can have. You see, the world we lived in wasn't kind and it wasn't pretty either; it was the place for abandoned, poor and worthless kids. Being in Stella's House taught me how to be kind to others. They showed kindness to us by taking care of all our needs. They taught us how to love each other and most of all to love ourselves, to believe in ourselves and that we are not worthless. Now when I look back I am so thankful that I was given such an opportunity, and it wasn't just so I could finish my studies. I learned a new language in less than a year. This gives me such an advantage at work or just in general social environments.

I have travelled to places which I could never dreamed of doing in my entire life and I have made lots of friends. I saw people being kind and pouring love and blessings over me and seeing this in other cultures made me change my way of thinking. I don't even want to think about what would have happened to me or what kind of person I would be today without Stella's Voice.

About us

Stella was an orphan girl who died of aids at the age of nineteen as a result of being trafficked - she will never speak again. We have determined that we will be 'Stella's Voice' and do all that we can to protect as many of the world's most vulnerable from human traffickers - We believe that prevention is the most effective antidote to slavery.

Our Vision Young people no longer at risk of being trafficked because they have sustainable employment and a safe, secure future filled with hope.

REMOVE THE VULNERABILITY The girls and boys in Stella's & Simon's Houses come to us when they age-out of the state-run orphanage system. Our homes provide them with safety and shelter, provision for their needs and all within a caring, family environment. This removes them from the vulnerability and danger of being trafficked.

We presently operate two Stella's homes (18 girls in each home) and one Simon's home (13 boys). We also provide financial support to an orphanage for younger children prior to their aging out of the state-run system.

ASSIST THROUGH EDUCATION When they come to us, the girls and boys are all behind in their education and have neither the means nor resources to remedy this. At Stella's Voice, we provide whatever assistance (tuition, finances and other resources) is required to ensure each person in our care progresses through the education system from secondary school, right through to college or university.

EQUIP AND RESOURCE Education on its own will not equip a young person with everything they need to live productive, independent lives. Training, life skills and apprenticeships are just some of the ways we ensure each person is equipped and resourced to fulfil their unique potential.
