Shared Lives Week 2020
We are excited to invite you to be part of Shared Lives week across the UK, 15 - 19 June 2020, where raise awareness of the amazing work that Shared Lives carers do in communities up and down the country.
Due to Covid-19, things are a little different this year. That said, never has our charity been so important and this year we are aiming to make an even bigger splash. To help us celebrate we would like you to organise your own virtual tea party via any digital video facility in aid of Shared Lives Plus.
You can broadcast your own tea party, or invite others to join you online etc…
We are the UK charity and membership body for more than 6,000 Shared Lives carers. Our vision is to build kinder, stronger communities so that everyone has the chance to lead a full life, regardless of the support they need. Shared Lives carers look after people in their own home, providing ongoing care and support for adults living with learning disabilities, dementia, or mental ill health. It can also support people who may need additional care in their older age, young people leaving care or provide respite for people needing to convalesce after leaving hospital. All of these situations enable people to live in a family home, sharing daily experiences and allowing them to thrive.
Shared Lives schemes, of which there are over 150 in the UK, match people with a carer through a comprehensive matching process, working closely with their families to ensure that the partnership provides the maximum benefit for both client and carer. Shared Lives Plus provides constant help, support and guidance for carers and schemes, as well as providing a regional and national voice for shared living, seeking to influence government agenda and policies.
Covid-19 has caused unnecessary suffering and loss of life throughout the world, yet amidst the anxiety communities have emerged stronger and more resilient, looking after each other and generally being kinder to each other. Our charity has community at its core, working to create a stronger, kinder society, and we would love it if you could to help us do more.
Taking part in our 2020 Shared Lives virtual tea party, to raise much needed funds and awareness and to enable us to help support the most vulnerable in society, is really easy and we are on hand to offer all the help and support that you need. Simply register your interest at https://sharedlivesplus.org.uk/support-us/shared-lives-week-tea-party-2020/ and we will be in touch with ideas and resources to help make your party go with a swing.
Many thanks for any support that you can provide.
