About us
There are very few motorsport events held north of the border where SMMC is not playing a significant role with either our trained personnel or specialist equipment being involved.
In a typical year, we provide safety and emergency services to around 90 events, which equates to around 7,000 hours a year voluntarily working to improve the safety of hundreds of competitors, supporting teams, officials and spectators.
We all have a common desire to provide a high-quality service to improve the safety of competitors, officials and spectators. And to enjoy the craic!
Our rescue and medical teams work in inherently high-risk environments: the race circuit or rally stage may still have cars moving, even if not at competitive speed; there is significant risk of fire; and undertaking a technical extrication involves the use of heavy cutting gear, sharp edges, broken glass, inhalation of dust and fumes.
£25 provides one crew member with covid-safe PPE. £100 pays for a protective safety helmet. £150 pays for fireproof overalls.
