About us

Hello. We are Richmond Borough Mind.

People often think of us as a ‘branch of Mind’, we are actually an independent registered charity, responsible for our own fundraising and service delivery. We’d love your help!

We are proud to be part of a network of over 100 local Minds. We carry the Mind Quality Mark as testimony to the quality of our services. To achieve this quality assurance standard, local Minds must be well-run organisations delivering safe, life-changing support for people with mental health problems.

With over 60 years experience in providing mental health services we cater for a broad spectrum of need, from mild to moderate needs such as low level anxiety and depression, through to severe and enduring conditions. Providing talking therapy, crisis services, education and so much more.

We strive to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and recovery and tackle the stigma and discrimination faced by people who experience mental health problems.

Every year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a diagnosable mental health condition every year. The pandemic shone the spot light on mental health, but it’s still easy for mental health to hide in a leafy place like Richmond. Alongside high levels of affluence we have many experiencing hardship and our young people are suffering. Of all London boroughs, Richmond is amongst the worst for admissions to hospital from self-harm, mental health and high levels of drink and drug use.

We need to do more, waiting lists are far too long. Covid, followed by the cost of living crisis, has had a huge impact the charity sector. Your support would ensure the sustainability of services and go towards growing our education and preventative work we do with schools. Whether you can offer a little, or a lot, of support, please help us tackle a growing problem.
