Right now, we are living in the worst refugee crisis since WWII. In 2019, almost 79.5 million people worldwide were forced to flee their homes as a result of persecution, conflict, or human rights violations.
People are being forced to flee their homes to escape conflict and war. They make harrowing journeys to the UK to find safety for them and their families. Except, what they find on arrival is not safety, but poverty, isolation, and hostility.
The asylum system is failing people in search of safety. It’s not providing the support and guidance needed to ensure that people can access justice and rebuild their lives. We are determined to change that.
As well as providing direct support to refugees and people seeking asylum, we tackle the root causes of the challenges people face by campaigning for systemic change and supporting other charities to reach people as early as possible. We are also working hard to shift power to refugees and people seeking asylum, so that they influence both our work and decisions made by government.
We cannot do this alone. To achieve our vision of a UK which welcomes refugees and helps them to live free from poverty and rebuild their lives, we need to work together. It is only with support from people like you that we can continue this vital work. Thank you.
