The Government has published its long-awaited Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy. While Refuge is disappointed by the lack of new funding for domestic abuse services, which is essential to deliver real change, the VAWG Strategy still presents an opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of women and girls.

This International Women’s Day (IWD), the theme is ‘Give to Gain’ – a reminder that when we unite to uplift women and girls, we create a ripple effect of opportunity, empowerment and lasting change. By giving your time, support and solidarity, you help build a more inclusive world.
By taking part in 4Change, you can stand in solidarity with survivors of domestic abuse, and push for a world where all women can live free from fear. This year, we are offering different ways to get involved, so you can choose the best fundraising activity for your organisation:
- Step4Change: Is your team up for a challenge? Get together to walk 4 miles on the 8th March (or on a day of your choice). Your whole team will receive a free Refuge T-shirt to wear whilst completing your miles!
- Convo4Change: Host a conversation – whether it’s a coffee morning, discussion group or panel event, you can help break the silence around domestic abuse. Domestic abuse is still widely misunderstood and too often mishandled. But change starts with conversation, and you can be a catalyst. We’ll provide everything you need to get started and to make your event a success.
