About us
Who We Are
Redearth Education is a charity and NGO working to bring quality education, life chances and a brighter future to every child in Uganda. We are creating a world in which a child’s life chances are no longer determined by where they were born or the income of their parents. Instead, we are transforming future generations so that every child, no matter where they are from, will have the same chance to succeed and thrive in life.
Why We Are Needed
• Every day, thousands of children fill the small, dark classrooms of rural Uganda, eager to learn about the world around them. They dream of being accountants, lawyers, nurses, engineers and teachers. • Up to 80% of children in rural communities do not complete primary school, dropping out by the age of just 12 years old. • This means that these children are unable to life themselves and their future families out of poverty.
What we do
We are working with the Ugandan government to create a community of empowered, passionate and confident teachers, who can go on to ensure every child receives the education they need to succeed.
We encourage and support teachers to love their job. Our training empowers teachers with the skills, tools and confidence they need to enable every child in their class to succeed. It also enables teachers to train and support their colleagues so that they can embed knowledge of best teaching practices within their wider communities. This reduces their pupils' chances of dropping out at the by the age of 12, challenging the poverty and disadvantage faced by many families in rural communities.
Redearth teaching strategies make lessons more engaging, exciting and effective. Children become more motivated and inspired to learn and the quality of their education improves, as do their life chances. They become more likely to progress into higher levels of education, enabling them to participate in the labour force, engage in paid employment, earn more for their families, and contribute to the future success of their communities.
