About us

Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is an independent medical imaging charity. It was founded in 1985 by Dr Paul Strickland, and funded entirely by voluntary donations following a public appeal. The appeal was so successful that it raised enough to fund a CT and an MRI scanner, as well as the building to house them. Dr Strickland was amongst the very first to be convinced of the importance of medical imaging in the accurate diagnosis and subsequent treatment of patients with cancer and other diseases. Dr Strickland’s legacy is a world class centre which attracts the highest calibre radiologists and radiographers. 35 years on, we continue to pursue the aim of our founder in remaining at the forefront of scanning technology.

We are a specialist imaging centre and we work to improve the lives of people affected by cancer and other serious conditions. We do this by using high-quality imaging equipment and providing the best possible patient care. At our centre we offer CT, MRI and PET/CT scans, delivered by highly skilled radiographers. The complex images from the scans are then interpreted and analysed by our team of world-renowned consultant radiologists. We help thousands of patients, over 8,000 last year, from across the South East and further afield, by performing life-saving scans.
