About us
As a charity, we provide volunteer enhanced medical responders who can be called upon by the ambulance service to provide help at the scene of the most serious accidents and emergencies. We bring advanced skills, often only seen in hospitals, to the roadside where the patient needs them the most. To help us provide this advanced level of care, we need to have the equipment often only found within an emergency department or intensive care unit. We have two rapid response vehicles in which members can respond as part of an enhanced pre-hospital care team. We wish to ensure that those vehicles are stocked with all of the medical equipment needed to help us save lives and keep our volunteers safe in the process.
Trauma remains one of the biggest killers in the UK and is the biggest killer in the under-40s age group. This is where we can make the biggest difference. In 2012, major trauma centres were established. These hospitals specialise in the management of those seriously injured and have been shown to improve survival. Our advanced skills, complemented by the appropriate equipment, can allow us to get more patients to these specialist trauma hospitals, giving them the best chance of survival and good clinical outcomes.
Responding as a team from a rapid response vehicle is a new model for us. Traditionally, we have responded to calls for help as an individual in our own private vehicles. This does somewhat limit us as to the equipment we can carry. We hope to secure funding to provide all of the lifesaving equipment we need for two vehicles, to allow us to save more lives in our patch and to help ensure the safety of our volunteers through the use of personal protective equipment.

Our volunteer responders have attended many of the regions Major Incidents, including the Manchester Arena attack, Cumbria Floods and the Bosley Mill Explosion.
