My Sisters Place

My Sisters Place is a domestic abuse service in Middlesbrough. We provide practical, emotional and therapeutic support to women affected by domestic abuse, helping improve their lives and that of their children, too. Service users are at the heart of everything we do- we are small, agile, creative and focused entirely on ensuring no women is turned away.

About us

All of our work is in Teesside, in the North East of England. Most of this takes place with women from Middlesbrough, one of the most economically deprived areas in the country. It is estimated that 1 in 4 women will be affected by domestic abuse at some time, although we know that in our area we have the second highest rate in the country.

Since COVID-19, demand has skyrocketed and we have never been busier. We are tireless in working to keep women and children safe from abuse.

We never turn a woman away and make sure she is safe, before creating a bespoke support plan and helping her take steps to recovery for her and her family. What we do works. Over 70% of our beneficiaries report improved health and wellbeing and we know that through our support we make a big difference to women's lives.

Your donations will make a huge difference to the women we work with. For example:

£100 - Purchases essentials ( kettle, crockery, towels) for a family starting again £50 - provides a book to take part in the Freedom Programme ( psycho- education) and travel to the course for 6 weeks £20 - buys pyjamas for children when the family have fled with little £10- buys travel ticket to refuge £5- provides a hot drink and snack
