About us

Skin conditions affect millions of people in the UK alone, causing not only physical discomfort but also emotional distress and psychological challenges. All aspects of a person’s life can be hugely impacted by a skin condition, including family and personal relationships. Relatively simple and mundane tasks such as getting dressed can be hugely painful for some, whilst others may experience bullying from work colleagues as their condition is very visible.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK and rates continue to rise. At least 100,000 new cases are now diagnosed each year, and the disease kills over 2,500 people each year in the UK - that's seven people every day.

Despite this, dermatological research remains a hugely underfunded area.

The British Skin Foundation is dedicated to raising money for research, which will lead to a greater understanding of skin disease and skin cancer, resulting in new or more effective treatments for patients, and eventually cures.

We also aim to raise awareness of skin diseases in the wider public. We're committed to educating people about the different skin conditions, helping to reduce stigma and promote understanding.

By supporting the British Skin Foundation you can make an incredible and lasting impact to the lives of skin disease and skin cancer patients.
