Greenwood Community Centre: Low-Cost Room Hire Keeps Vital Services Local

At Greenwood Community Centre in Hampton Hill, affordable room hire is doing more than just filling space, it is helping to keep essential services within reach for the whole community.
By offering low-cost rooms to local organisations, Greenwood Community Centre enables a wide range of support and wellbeing activities to take place close to home. These include specialist counselling options covering youth, bereavement, and long-term adult support, as well as innovative health and wellbeing activities such as neuro-exercise and chair yoga.
Crucially, these services are available locally and at low cost because Hampton & Hampton Hill Voluntary Care, who runs the Centre, prioritises community need over profit. The discounted hire fees ensure that organisations can continue to deliver their programmes affordably, making professional help and preventative wellbeing support accessible to those who might otherwise miss out.
Partnerships and sponsorships also play a vital role. For example, Home Instead generously sponsors Singing for the Brain, a group designed for people living with memory loss. This support helps the Centre maintain activities that make a real difference to residents’ lives.
“We know that times are tough for many,” said a spokesperson for Greenwood Community Centre. “By keeping our hire fees low, we’re helping local organisations bring vital services directly into the community. And thanks to sponsors like Home Instead, we can go even further in supporting residents who need it most.”
With demand for accessible wellbeing, counselling, and social connection higher than ever, the Centre’s commitment to low-cost hire and community partnerships ensures Hampton Hill continues to have a place where support is not just available but local, affordable, and welcoming.

Celebrating "Your Community Centre Week 2025"

This September we’re proud to be part of "Your Community Centre Week 2025 (YCCW2025)" – a borough-wide celebration bringing together 10 local community centres, including our own Greenwood Community Centre.
As part of the week, we’ll be hosting activities that showcase the power of community spaces in tackling loneliness and isolation, while also highlighting the incredible role local businesses and supporters play in making this possible. From vintage bus tours to community dance events, YCCW2025 will shine a spotlight on the importance of accessible, welcoming places for everyone.
For us, it’s more than just a week of events – it’s a chance to demonstrate how your support helps us:
-
Keep our doors open to hundreds of local people.
-
Provide vital services for older adults at risk of loneliness.
-
Offer affordable space for groups, charities, and small businesses.
When you choose to support us through "Work for Good", you’re directly helping to sustain Greenwood Community Centre as a 'community-led hub' where everyone feels connected, valued, and supported.
We can’t wait to welcome you to YCCW2025 and to show you just what your generosity makes possible.
Thank you for standing with us, and for helping to keep our community thriving.
