FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 17 independent organisations. Together, we take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to over 11,000 frontline charities and community groups. This is enough food to make over a million meals a week.

About us

Since the crisis began:

  • Over 850 new charities have been signed up to get food so far (March to May).

  • 80% of new charities signing up in March and April provide food parcels

  • Most of the existing 11,000 charities we support are adapting their services to deliver food to people's doorsteps or create safe collection points. Some charities e.g. homeless hostels and refuges are operating as normal but are under increased strain as many are seeing a drop in voluntary income, staff shortages etc.

  • We’ve doubled the amount of food we've got out to frontline charities in the month after lockdown measures began, up from the month before

  • We are seeing a significant increase in demand. The number of charities who have applied to receive food from FareShare has more than tripled in the last few months.

  • To date nine of our regional centres have secured additional warehouse space. These are: Kent, Thames Valley, Cymru, Midlands, London, North East, South West, Manchester and Merseyside.
