What We Do

Support: We create supportive materials to educate and transform the future of gender equality in music.

Include: We research the presence of women composers in concerts and advocate for their inclusion.

Celebrate: We raise awareness and inspire audiences globally to celebrate women in music.

Key Initiatives The Big List: https://donne-uk.org/the-big-list/ Our ever-expanding list features more than 5,000 women composers from various eras and genres, showcasing the rich diversity of female talent in music.

Groundbreaking Research: https://donne-uk.org/research/ Our latest report showed that 7.5% of works were composed by women, a slight decrease from 7.7% last year. Of these, 5.8% were composed by white women, and works by women from the global majority accounted for just 1.6%, distributed as follows:

Black women: 0.59% Asian women: 0.50% Mixed Heritage women: 0.40% Indigenous women: 0.07 Middle Eastern women: 0.02%

Strategic Partnerships and Resources: We collaborate with esteemed organizations like the Royal Albert Hall, Apple Music, and The Oscars® to amplify female voices in music. We also create free multimedia resources to support this mission. Consultative and Educational Role: Through talks, program consultations, and other educational initiatives, we increase the visibility and recognition of women composers.
