About us

Working in the remote rural villages of the Lower Solukhumbu, Nepal, to date, Classrooms In The Clouds Nepal has built 48 earthquake resistant classrooms and supports the education of nearly 3000 underprivileged students in Nepal. CITC Nepal provides salaries for 10 Nepalese teachers, 8 women and 2 men and provides libraries, furniture, teaching materials, clean water, gender specific toilets and menstrual health and first aid training in over 8 different villages. Working closely with young people across the globe we encourage schools, colleges and youth groups to become involved with learning more about CITC and Nepal ensuring that a strong global awareness legacy is established by young people for young people. Empowerment of women is key to the work of CITC Nepal. Where many Nepalese girls leave school to support the family or marry very young, CITC supports young girls to stay in school through gender friendly education programmes. Run almost entirely by volunteers, CITC Nepal is a very cost efficient organisation and in 2017 95% of all donations were spent in Nepal at grassroots level.
