About us
Since our inception in 1991, Candoco Dance Company has been creating excellent and profound experiences for audiences and participants that excite, challenge and broaden perceptions of art and ability.
We commission internationally renowned choreographers to create bold and unpredictable new works on the company for both traditional and non-traditional settings. Touring across the world, we offer a diverse programme that ranges from full company works in mid-to-large-scale theatres, to small-scale duets for outdoor performances and non-traditional spaces.
Through our thriving Learning Programme, we seek to address and remove barriers to dance and art to achieve equality across the performing arts and the dance sector specifically through advocating and practically demonstrating the value of inclusive practice in enhancing the creativity of all artists.
With our Learning Programme we want to practically improve access to dance for disabled people. From youth dance classes and workshops at schools & colleges to artist development, teacher training and professional artist labs – our learning programme offers opportunities to take part and learn with us.
In 2015 Candoco was awarded for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Dance’ at the UK Theatre Awards. This year, we have been nominated for two One Dance UK awards in the Dance on Screen - Impact Award and Inspirational Work in Education Award categories.
