Bendrigg Trust

Bendrigg Trust is an outdoor centre specialising in supporting people with disabilities to increase their confidence, develop their independence and broaden their horizons through inclusive adventurous activities. At Bendrigg, people feel 'celebrated' rather than 'accommodated' and we work hard to provide access and adaptation for all.

Popular Virtual Christmas fair is back for 2023

Popular Virtual Christmas fair is back for 2023

Following last years successful fair, we are pleased to share that it has returned once more and Bendrigg are the chosen charity like last year ! Now in it's 4th year the fair just keeps giving back to good causes with over £23,000 given to charity since it started in National Lockdown (2020) when the founder Louise Phillips, was on maternity leave.

This is a VIRTUAL Christmas fair with crafters, talented artists, creators and small businesses selling their items online in a dedicated facebook group with over 9,200 members!  For just £20 stalls can promote their items daily during the fair which runs from 13th October to 8th December 2023.  All sales take place directly between the buyer and seller.   There is a dedicated stall directory showing all who are involved with links to their websites and social medias.

Last year many stalls pledged to give back via Work for Good which resulted in an extra donation of £463.23!!  Most selected '10% of sales during the fair' others did a set amount (£) on a specific item/s.  The beauty of this pledge is it is your pledge and you can be as specific as you like!

To apply for a stall please check out the detail on the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/782623742308346/ - Virtual Christmas Fair - Charity Fundraiser

Giving back via Work for Good is not compulsory but stalls who choose to are highlighted more as a thank you!

Virtual Christmas Fair in aid of Bendrigg!

Virtual Christmas Fair in aid of Bendrigg!

Our new Fundraising Co-ordinator, Louise, has only been here 2 weeks but she is already achieving amazing things. To find out how amazing then read on.......

"I am very excited to be able to host my Virtual Christmas fair again and this year I will be giving the proceeds to Bendrigg. My dedicated facebook group with close to 10,000 members puts some seriously talented makers, crafters, small businesses, and brand reps in front of a captive audience who just love spending. With a daily post allowance sellers can showcase their items for sale, as well as set up an album. Links to all sellers will appear on a dedicated stall directory, all of whom have paid a £20 stall fee.

Imagine buying from small businesses that do a dance each time they get a sale AND supporting our fantastic work here at Bendrigg. This fair has raised £19,787 since it was launched for the lockdown Christmas of 2020 (which went to the NHS in 2020 and 2021)."

The best thing about this fundraiser is it supports so many people and organisations and many of the sellers are also choosing to donate a percentage of their sales to Bendrigg through Work for Good. Head over to Facebook to find out more.

New communication resources

New communication resources

We are absolutely delighted to say that the first 11 of over 20 activity social story videos have been completed. We've created these videos as part of our Hidden Disabilities project to improve our communication resources and help to reduce levels of anxiety for people with learning disabilities and Autism when they come to Bendrigg. Read more about the Hidden Disabilities Project on our blog here > https://buff.ly/3IDMIUP

We have videos covering most of our activities including canoeing, caving, climbing, ropes course, zip wire, archery and much more. Videos covering some of the domestic routine are also coming soon such as how to make beds, set the table and load the dishwasher.

If you can't wait then all our currently available activities have all been uploaded to a designated playlist on our YouTube channel > https://buff.ly/3yweHRD

Let us know what you think!

A huge thank you to Adamedia and Amphigean Limited for their support with developing these wonderful resources.
