About us
Our aims are to help tackle loneliness and social isolation amongst older people, to ensure individuals can remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible, to provide advice and practical support ranging from helping with welfare benefit claims and housing issues to sending our HandyFix team to people's homes to check their fire alarms and fit wheelchair ramps.
Some of our most popular services include:
MYsocial - We run a calendar of over 60 events a month, both virtually and in person, and at least a third of these events are provided free of charge. Over the past year and a half, loneliness and social isolation has increased massively and by putting on these events we are helping older members of our community to discover new friendships, connect with their community, and do things that make them happy.
MYneighbour - this service is designed to tackle loneliness head on by pairing an isolated individual with one of our amazing volunteers. We currently have over 400 pairs of clients and volunteer befrienders. Our befrienders call or visit their MyNeighbour partner every week, and some even take round a home cooked meal to share together.
MYcommunity - a broad service that provides elderly people with the information, support and advice they need, ranging from help with welfare benefit claims, housing issues, transport and more.
HandyFix - we offer handyperson services fixing things around the home and at home services such as cooking, cleaning and shopping enabling people to stay in their own homes as long as possible.
How you can help:
As an independent, local charity, we rely on your support to provide all of our vital services. In 2021/2022, we helped an amazing 76,881 people and it's only with the support of people like you that we can make a real difference in our community. Every penny that you raise will go towards enriching the lives of older people in Lambeth.
Thank you!
