About us
Age UK Hammersmith and Fulham has been supporting people over the age of 50 in the borough since 1982. We work to promote the overall wellbeing of older people by providing a holistic service.
At our Activity Centre, we offer a great place for residents to socialise, with daily exercise and activity classes, and a subsidised two-course hot lunch. We offer digital skills sessions to those wanting to get online, and an information and advice service to support those who are facing problems, such as with housing or benefits.
Outside of our Centre, we also offer befriending to those who have no or limited social contact, a shopping service to help those who struggle to get to a supermarket by themselves, and practical support for those who need it, such as with gardening or collecting prescriptions. We offer our digital skills sessions out in the community, and many of our classes are accessible remotely.
We help over 1,400 older people in Hammersmith and Fulham each year with the support of a committed team of over 200 volunteers.
Gregory has been visiting us for almost ten years now. In 2019, he joined our digital skills classes with our IT Trainer and has since learned how to shop, manage his banking and look for travel deals, all online. He describes himself as a 'late-bloomer' when it comes to technology, but recently told us:
"I'm so grateful that Age UK H&F offers these classes. I never imagined I'd feel so confident using technology."
We're delighted to be able to help people like Gregory to learn new things and enjoy later life.
