About us
African Promise supports a cluster of primary schools in the isolated Kasigau region of south-east Kenya which together serve up to 3,000 children from extremely impoverished and disadvantaged backgrounds.
We work with our partner schools to create child-friendly learning environments by renovating, rebuilding and expanding facilities whilst also ensuring children have access to safe and hygienic sanitation facilities, clean drinking water, a nutritious lunchtime meal, as well as to sufficient teachers and educational materials.
In doing so we aim to equip the schools with the capacity to deliver an education worth having and to make the long walk to school that so many of these children make each day a worthwhile one.
With over 10 years’ experience working in this field, and with some of our partner schools declared as a ‘model’ by the local government, we have earned a reputation as one of the leading school-development charities in the region.
