Our Mission is; an equal chance of a bright future for every child unable to live with their birth parents. To secure the right support, at the right time for the children at the heart of every adoptive and kinship care family. Together we're family. Adoptive families face daily battles to get the longer-term support and specialist help they need. Since Covid-19 struck, many families have told us they are under even more pressure, feeling increased isolation and are heading towards breaking point. We will again be running our Virtual Festive Market!

Celebrating independent retailers, who in turn have agreed to support Adoption UK by donating to us, our Festive Market will allow the general public to purchase those important gifts for family and friends from the comfort of their homes whilst making a real difference to your small businesses and their favourite charity, Adoption UK!

Adoption UK is 50!

A big milestone, and an opportunity to pause, reflect and plan for the future.

For 50 years we/Adoption UK have supported, advocated, championed and been there for adoptive families around the UK. Today our/their cause is as clear and compelling as ever; to secure the right support at the right time for the children at the heart of every adoptive and kinship care family.

Times are tough for every family – but it’s especially challenging for those parenting children who have experienced neglect or abuse. Most Adopted children will have experienced trauma their early lives. This has a lasting impact on their relationships, health, learning and future chances. That’s not fair!

Adoption gives children a second chance of stability, permanence, and the love and nurture that all children need – but it’s a lifelong journey – adoption on its own is not the solution. We won’t stop until every family has what they need to thrive and each child has the best chance of a brighter future.

Adoption UK provides ground breaking peer support, community outreach and champions the rights of vulnerable children.

Our aim is to raise £50,000 in 2021 our 50^th year! Can you help us raise these vital funds to make lasting changes for the children we love.

About us

Adoption UK is the leading charity for adoptive families, and others parenting children who can’t live with their birth families, such as kinship carers. We were set up in 1971 by adopters, for adopters. We’ll be here for adopted children and the families that love them for as long as they need us.

Adoption has transformed the lives of millions of the most vulnerable children in the UK. Most of today’s adopted children have suffered violence, neglect and abuse in their birth families, with lasting impacts on their relationships, learning and health. Despite all the challenges adopters are resilient and optimistic - most adoptive families would encourage others to adopt.

We connect families through an active community of adopted people and adopters; provide direct support through therapeutic services, advice and training; and campaign to influence government adoption policies and adoption practice. Our aim is to give children who have had an unfair start in life an equal chance of a bright future.

We work closely with our colleagues in local authorities and voluntary agencies to provide the best support. As an adoption support agency we have been consecutively rated as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for our services.

We help adoptive families build brighter futures for vulnerable children. Our trusted family finding service has helped many find new homes offering love, support and helping adopted children fulfil their potential.

We offer hope and understanding by providing vital support, training, community, and voice to all those involved in the adoption process which includes prospective adopters, adoptive families and professionals.

Our services are unique because they are developed by adoptive families for adoptive families. We campaign tirelessly to ensure that adoptive families receive the support and encouragement they need to help make adoptions work.

Together, our community is a powerful force for change in the lives of the children we love.
