Acorns Children's Hospice

Acorns Children's Hospice provides babies, children and young people aged 0 - 18 years who have life limiting or life threatening conditions with a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support. We provide tailored nursing care for each child including short breaks, emergency and end of life care at our three hospices located in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester.

About us

Our hospices provide a home from home environment where children can take part in a range of fun and therapeutic activities, from arts and crafts sessions to hydrotherapy. Children visit Acorns for respite, short breaks, end of life and emergency care, whilst providing families with a much needed break from caring round the clock.

We provide care and support to life limited and life threatened children, and their families, across the areas of Birmingham, Coventry and Warwickshire, Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.

It costs around £11 million a year to run our care services in the hospices and community, providing care for the child and support for families.

As a charity we rely heavily on generous donations from businesses and the local community to fund the majority of our care. We simply wouldn’t be here for children and families without the support of wonderful donors and fantastic fundraisers; so a huge thank you from all of us for choosing to support Acorns through Work for Good.
