Abby's Heroes

We are very proud to announce that our Family Support Workers are now working on the Piam Brown Paediatric Oncology Ward at UHS (Southampton General Hospital)

Offering families on treatment, social and emotional support, sitting alongside families, being a listening ear and a friendly face on the ward. Kirsten said  "I am very excited to be joining the amazing team at Abby’s Heroes working in the new Family Support worker role. After initially training as a Nursery Nurse, I now have 20 years of experience, mainly within education, where I have had the privilege to spend time working and supporting many families through challenging times.

My first college placement was at the Piam Brown ward, and I am delighted to now have the opportunity to return to the ward in this new role supporting children and their families"

On the 15^th October 2023, Abby's Heroes took 10 families off to see the fabulous Lion King at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. Using funds raised by our Corporate Partners, we waited outside to hand each family their tickets and a goodie bag. One family said "Thank you Abby's Heroes for such a brilliant treat. The past few years have been so difficult for my family, we are really grateful for all you have done for us"

We have two trips next year, one to Harry Potter Studios and one to take families to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
