Abby's Heroes trip to the Lion King

Abby's Heroes trip to the Lion King

On the 15th October 2023, Abby's Heroes took 10 families off to see the fabulous Lion King at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. Using funds raised by our Corporate Partners, we waited outside to hand each family their tickets and a goodie bag. One family said "Thank you Abby's Heroes for such a brilliant treat. The past few years have been so difficult for my family, we are really grateful for all you have done for us"

We have two trips next year, one to Harry Potter Studios and one to take families to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Family Support Workers for the Piam Browns Ward UHS

Family Support Workers for the Piam Browns Ward UHS

We are very poud to announce that our Family Support Workers are now working on the Piam Brown Paediatric Oncology Ward at UHS (Southampton General Hospital)

Offering families on treatment, social and emotional support, sitting alongside families, being a listening ear and a freindly face on the ward. Michaela said  "I am excited to be joining the Abby’s Heroes team as a Family Support Worker on Piam Brown. This is going to be an invaluable role for patients and their families to access during various stages of their treatment and one I'm proud to help set up and develop.

I began working in Southampton General Hospital in 2008 as a Health Care Assistant, working my way up various bandings and exploring different specialities. I found a passion for Paediatrics and all things child care, especially getting to know all the children and their families. Eventually I joined Piam Brown as part of the Play Team, before going off and having two children of my own. I was lucky enough to get to know Abby during her time on Piam Brown and I hope I can bring some of her incredible spirit and sunshine to all families who need it."
