Our Story
It all started with a shoe box…

A couple of years ago I wanted to send my friend a pamper hamper. She’d just had her second baby and it was clear all was not well. Whilst I knew what she really needed was somebody to remind her she’s amazing, watch the baby so she could sleep, to cook her dinner and distract her older child, I was in London drowning in work and she was up North. So, I took a shoe box down to the local shops and filled it with things that would hopefully encourage her to take a moment for herself. I added little notes, wrapped it up and posted it to her. Whilst, obviously, the gift hamper didn’t help with the big things, she told me it helped her just knowing somebody’s giving her a hug from afar. That somebody was thinking about her. And that was the start of Alice & Peg!

Established from the kitchen table in London in 2018 and named after two of the most generous women I know (my Nana Alice & Nana Peg) I wanted to replicate that original thought process into a range of beautiful, sustainably produced gifts. Sustainable gifts that help to restore wellbeing, promote self-care and make the recipient feel loved. To help people reach out to each other to say “You’ve Got This” or “You’re Amazing”. But most of all, I wanted to make it easy and convenient for people to send beautiful gifts, confident in the knowledge that the gift is cruelty free and not produced at the expense of our environment. Ethical gifting made simple.

Our Values
Supporting independent makers and small business owners has always been hugely important to me, as has shopping locally, and we now work solely with independent makers and suppliers based in the UK to curate our gift boxes.

Caring about the planet and creating sustainable gifts is our thing: we carefully select products that are handmade in small batches in the UK by makers that care about the ingredients they use and the methods they apply to make the products.

Where we can find a more sustainable option for our gifts; be it for the products we include in our boxes, or how we post your items to you; we’ll use it. We have chosen to use Royal Mail to deliver our gifts as they are already delivering your post - no extra courier vans on our roads shipping parcels around! Packaging is biodegradable, reusable or easy to recycle and we proactively avoid the use of plastics. We don't include invoices or delivery information in the box - we prefer to save a tree and email it to you instead! We’re constantly striving to work more sustainably and are proudly carbon neutral.

All of our gift boxes aim to promote self-care and mental wellbeing. Having personally suffered from anxiety and depression, I wanted to take this one step further and am so proud to say we donate £1 from every gift box sold to YoungMinds, one of the UK’s leading charities fighting for children and young people’s mental health.
