Create your agreement
The donations section on your dashboard is where the magic happens. In just a couple of minutes, you can create your Commercial Participation Agreement with your chosen charity. Let us take you through the form step by step.
Which charity would you like to support?
If you haven't decided which charity to support you can view and filter all of our registered charities here.
If you want to fundraise for more than one charity, you will need to set up a separate agreement with each charity you are supporting.
Are you fundraising through your sales?
If you want to fundraise for a charity through your sales or service, you will need to have a Commercial Participation Agreement in place with each charity before starting to raise funds for them. This section of the form lets the charity know exactly how you're going to be raising funds for them:
- Whether you're donating a £ or a % amount and what this figure is (e.g. 10 %)
- Whether you're raising funds from every sale or sales from a specific product or service (e.g. sales from of t-shirts from your Spring/Summer range)
- Your campaign start and end dates. This is how long your Commercial Participation Agreement will be in place with the charity. The campaign length is up to you, but 72% of businesses choose a timeframe of 2 months or less because they know that regular donations really benefit charities. The maximum campaign length is one year. If you want to raise funds for your chosen charity on a permanent basis, you will just need to set up another Commercial Participation Agreement when yours comes to an end.
If you are not raising funds through your sales or service, then select 'No' and skip to the next section. Please be aware that you can not legally publicise this fundraising and it won’t show on your Work for Good profile.
This donation is estimated to total (£)
As part of the terms of the Commercial Participation Agreement, you need to state an estimate of you much you think you will raise from your fundraising. This should be based on your sales forecasts, it will not be made public, only the charity and Work for Good will be informed. When it comes to the end of your agreement, you will have the chance to edit this figure during the payment process to how much you have raised from your sales.
I expect this donation to be paid on
This is the date you will pay your donation. It should either be on the same day or shortly after the campaign end date. You can give yourself some time to reconcile your sales and work out the exact donation figure, but your donation must be paid within 28 days of the end of your campaign. You will receive an email on this date with a link to pay your donation through your Work for Good account.
Keep in touch with your chosen charity
You can choose whether or not you want to hear directly from your chosen charity. If you select 'Yes' to this option, we will share your name and email address with them so they can keep in touch with you about the impact of your fundraising and other ways to support them. You can update your preferences directly with the charity at any time.
Would you like to boost this donation with Gift Aid?
If you're donating as an individual (which means that your business is not a limited company) and a UK taxpayer, for every £1 you donate, charities can claim an extra 25p via Gift Aid. Find out more about Gift Aid here.
NB: There is nothing for you to pay or claim in order to apply Gift Aid. If you confirm that your donation is eligible for Gift Aid, you will be asked to complete a short Gift Aid statement when you pay your donation, and then the charity will do all the work on your behalf.
Involve your customers in this donation
If you enter your customer's email address, they will be sent an email when you pay a donation. We recommend using this feature if you're working with a small pool of customers or clients, as you can only include one customer for each donation, so you will need to set up a donation for every customer. If you plan to publicise your giving to a wider customer or client base, it might be best to do so via your Work for Good profile, your website, or on social media and we have offered some advice on how to do this here.
If you decide to involve your customer, please make sure you have their permission before entering their name and email address.
Agree to the Commercial Participation Agreement
The final step is to tick to confirm that you understand the requirements of the Commercial Participation Agreement as part of our Terms & Conditions.
Compliance
Once you have created your agreement, it's vital that you add your Commercial Participation Statement to the point of sale (e.g on your website). We have explained this in full here.
Payment
On your specified payment date, you will be sent an email asking you to pay your donation and a link to do so through your Work for Good account (you will receive a reminder 7 days before your campaign end date). Payment can be made via credit or debit card or BACs.
