About us
Mental Health and Wellbeing: At the heart of YG's mission is a deep commitment to improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 11-25. Recognising the unique challenges faced by this age group, YG offers tailored support services, including counselling and activities that promote emotional resilience and mental wellbeing. These initiatives are crucial in helping young people navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and stability.
Skills and Education: YG is dedicated to empowering young people through education and skill development. We provide a range of educational support programs and training opportunities that equip young people with the necessary skills for employment and personal growth. By focusing on practical learning and career readiness, YG plays a pivotal role in ensuring that young individuals are prepared professionally and personally for the future.
Communities: YG's impact extends beyond individual support, fostering stronger, more supportive communities in Gloucestershire. Through various community-based projects and initiatives, the charity encourages young people to engage positively with their local environment, promoting community cohesion and shared responsibility.
Mentoring: Mentoring is a cornerstone of YG's approach. By connecting young people with experienced mentors, YG facilitates personal development, offering guidance, support, and encouragement. This one-on-one mentorship is instrumental in helping young individuals navigate life's challenges, build resilience, and achieve their full potential.
Family Support: Understanding the importance of family in a young person's life, YG extends its support to include family-oriented services. These services strengthen family bonds, provide parental guidance, and create a nurturing environment for young people to thrive. By supporting families, YG ensures a holistic approach to the wellbeing and development of young individuals.
Our key priorities for 2024/25 include: • Continuing to develop our Full Circle programme that mentors young people for up to 12 months who have been victims of criminal or sexual exploitation • Expanding our provision of the Arcus project, which works 1-on-1 with families while young people explore their gender identity • Formalising our support to Asylum Seekers and Refugees within our County, waiting for their status decisions
Last year, we worked with almost 5,000 young people in the County, and we're looking to continue an upward trend for 2024/25, so we would love to be considered as one of your charities of the year!
