About us

Sustrans is the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle. We connect people and places, create liveable neighbourhoods, transform the school run and deliver a happier, healthier commute. Sustrans works in partnership, bringing people together to find the right solutions. We make the case for walking and cycling by using robust evidence and showing what can be done. We are grounded in communities and believe that grassroots support combined with political leadership drives real change, fast.

We are currently working on a many projects around the UK that require funding. For more information on any of the projects listed or to ask about our other areas of work then please contact our Corporate Partnership team at fundraising@sustrans.org.uk

Project 1 (Muslimah) In the autumn of 2020, we collaborated with the Muslimah Sports Association (MSA) to deliver a 6 week pilot of cycling training course for Muslim & BAME women in Valentines Park, Redbridge London. We plan to partner with Muslimah Sports Association to develop and deliver training courses for Muslim women which empowers them both to start cycling and become cycle champions within their own communities. These cycle champions can then ensure the longevity of the project by disseminating their training to further participants with ongoing support from Sustrans. Working in partnership with MSA, we will deliver two cycle courses, one adult lead ride programme, a family cycle training course, family lead ride programme and a cycle champion mentoring and training programme. The cycle courses will involve: • Bike control and manoeuvring skills • On road cycle skills • Route planning • Trailing child and luggage carriers • Basic bike maintenance • Local rides

At the end of the course all participants will be awarded a bike including all essential bike accessories and tools. The total cost of delivery for this project is £42,345. We will ensure all funding requirements are met before starting the project. If you are interested in funding this project or would like more information then please get in touch.
