Leeds Weekend Care Association is a local charity that has been delivering weekend and evening social clubs children and young people with disabilities for over two decades. We provide our services all year around and support young people aged 5-18 from the Leeds area.
We run three projects:
Weekenders Club Weekenders Club provides 6.5 hours short breaks for children with additional needs on Saturdays, 35 weeks a year. This project supports children and young people with profound physical, developmental and behavioural disabilities. We provide a range of activities, including adapted bikes, a bouncy castle and ball pool, messy/sensory play, baking and arts and crafts.
Teen Scene Teen Scene is the age appropriate version of Weekenders Club for teenagers aged 14-18. It runs on 12 Saturdays a year. We provide a minimum of 2:1 child-to-staff-ratio of support and offer activities such as sport, cooking, dancing, music and games.
Out and About Project Out and About Project provides opportunities for teenagers aged 14-18 with a disability to access social and leisure facilities in the community with our experienced staff team. This includes meals out, bowling, trips to trampoline parks, snooker, 'nights in' at Leeds Mencap and day trips to places like Lightwater Valley.
