We are concerned by the intensification of fighting in Ukraine, which threatens to bring essential services to a halt, create huge upheaval, loss of life, and separate families.

We are already seeing the immediate consequences for civilians, with the latest intensification triggering new displacement both within the country and across the borders. According to UNHCR, more than 500,000 million people have left Ukraine in recent days.

Without urgent action, the humanitarian implications will be huge. We are gravely concerned for the safety of communities and have launched an appeal to support them. Please donate to our Ukraine Crisis Appeal.

As part of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the British Red Cross is always prepared and ready to support National Societies to respond during times of crisis.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have been working hand-in-hand with affected communities to respond to the vast humanitarian needs caused by almost eight years of conflict.

We join the ICRC and the URCS, to call on all sides to respect civilians, their housing, and all vital services at all times.
