About us

Wiltshire Sight provides emotional and practical support to help people to adjust to living with sight loss, equipping people with the tools they need to continue to live their lives independently and to the full. Working across Wiltshire and Swindon, we are the only charity in the region providing local, face-to-face support.

Within Wiltshire and Swindon, the RNIB estimates that over 24,200 people are currently living with sight loss, and we are the only local, face-to-face sight loss charity supporting these people receive. Our Community Sight Loss Advice Service is delivered by trained Community Sight Loss Advisors, some of whom are registered blind, supported by local volunteers.

Our team of advisors provide support to people living with sight loss to ensure they have access to the right resources, information and support to live independently. The Advisors work together with clients to assess their needs and prepare appropriate action plans to ensure that they are accessing support, equipment and training which will help them adjust to and cope with their sight loss. Our new Sight Loss Assessment framework ensures that we take a holistic approach to our work, supporting the client through direct advice and training, but also signposting and referring to other local services such as the local authority rehabilitation teams, fire safety, falls prevention, etc. We also work with other charities who can provide support for dementia, hearing loss and mental health to ensure the clients get all the support they require.
