About us

" I first heard about the DofE when I started going to Westminster House Youth Club in Peckham, where I am from - a highly deprived area, notorious for gang crime and drugs. I began my DofE at a particularly difficult time in my life. I almost gave up but the support of my DofE Leader and the youth club encouraged me to continue. Thanks to their help and my own perseverance, I am now the proud holder of a Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE Award" Thomas Richards Vassell - A proud Gold Award Holder and DofE Ambassador.

The DofE truly transforms young people's lives by giving them the opportunity to shine. Everyone has to go to school, that is why we are in 75% of state schools and academies. 50% of independent schools. We are also in youth centres, young offenders institutes and special educational needs schools. Without support a generation of bright, ambitious young people will not fulfil their potential - we are particularly focussed on helping the disadvantaged and marginalised, they benefit the most from the skills that the DofE instils and develops.
