Meet Jephtah, aged 18 years from Malawi

"I have learnt how to type and how to search for information for projects; computers will help me in my future job in engineering." This is the first time he has had access to a computer.

We are proud to open our 25th e-Learning lab

We are proud to have completed our 25^th e-Learning lab in collaboration with the Tag Rugby Trust (TRT). This is our second IT lab project in Zimbabwe, providing IT access and digital skills training to vulnerable young girls in Harare. The lab has been installed at a specially built centre for girls at the Harare Sports Club. The centre, built by Tag Rugby Trust has computers and laptops for young girls who participate in Tag’s programmes as well as for the local community to use.

The project will deliver a significant improvement in both the quality and increased quantity of IT teaching for the densely populated area providing: Scheduled classroom style training sessions, bookable individual sessions, safe internet usage, teacher training and training programmes on general IT usage. We expect to see an increase in the number of users accessing employment/education/training courses.

Kohler Co chooses ITSA as charity partner

Kohler Co Global IT leadership team chose IT Schools Africa as their company volunteering partner. The team worked together with IT Schools Africa to refurbish and rebuild over 80 PCs that were donated by Kohler Co. These computers will be sustainably reused in African schools helping students to advance their education in a modern digital world.

About us

IT Schools Africa is a UK registered charity founded in 2004. Our mission is to provide quality education through access to e-Learning for schoolchildren in Africa whilst simultaneously in the UK supporting vulnerable, disadvantaged individuals through our 4 active Community Programmes primarily in Gloucestershire.

We collect free of charge within a three hour drive from Cheltenham. Data security is our number one priority and wipe all hard drives received and provide certificates of data erasure on request. We are Environment Agency registered and issue waste transfer notes as proof of WEEE compliance. We have collected over 90,000 computers and laptops in the UK but we always need more! Volunteering is at the heart of our charity and offer volunteering opportunities to a wide range of people.

We collect, refurbish and upgrade computer equipment in the UK which includes loading of Windows 10 and educational software. Data security is our N0 1 Priority and we use specialist data erasure software. We are registered with the Environment Agency and are WEEE compliant. ACHIEVEMENTS : Since 2004  90,000 computers & laptops collected in the UK  25 new school e-Learning labs in Africa  5 million children given access to IT  36 local projects supported within our IT Outreach Programme As well as supporting children in Africa, we also support vulnerable, disadvantaged individuals from varying backgrounds through our 4 active Community Programmes: Back to Work/Volunteer Programme We work with back-to-work employment and training agencies such as: The Job Centre, Prospect Training, The Prince’s Trust and Remploy to help long-term unemployed. Special Needs/Student Work Experience Programme Working together with local schools and colleges, we teach computer refurbishment and IT skills to special needs students as well as local school children. Gloucestershire Community IT Outreach Programme We aim to bridge the inequality of access to technology and training in digital skills and services to increase digital inclusion locally. Prison Workshop Programme We work with HM Prison Service to provide prisoners with the opportunity to learn useful skills so they can give back to society and reduce their risk of reoffending.
