About us

FOTNW was set up in 2013 by Caroline Kritchlow after her husband was flown from Orkney with a severe acoustic neuroma, a benign brain tumour.

As she sat waiting for news, she noticed how tired the ward was and an idea began to form.

Since then, we have completely refurbished the day room at Ward 205 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, created a respite room and bought vital equipment - ranging from specialist scales, shower hoists, recliner chairs to a new projector system for the doctors to discuss patient scans.

The ward has recently been split into neurology and neurosciences, so will use some of our funds to brighten up 204 too.

We're also fundraising for a therapy garden at the rehab unit at Woodend Hospital, which is being designed by the award-winning James Alexander-Sinclair.

We may be a small charity but we have lots of big ideas! Thank you for helping us give neuro patients the care and comfort they deserve.
