AutisticaPlay is the games arm of Autistica. AutisticaPlay has been in development for 4 months after Autistica took the initiative to hire a games industry professional to lead their strategy and development in connecting, working and partnering with the games sector in all forms.  During this time we have identified our core aims and audiences:

Our AutisticaPlay aims are:

  • Increase understanding of autism and the benefits of games.
  • Improve inclusivity to attract and retain autistic talent in the industry.
  • Raise vital funds and awareness for autism research.

Our Core audiences: The players: the people who play games and interact with the industry from an external point. The industry: professionals who work in the games industry, the various institutions, and surrounding events and activities. The support network: Parents, carers, teachers, etc of those who play games. people who don't play games themselves but want to understand more

DARE: Discover Autism Research & Employment

DARE: Discover Autism Research & Employment

There are over half a million autistic people in the UK possessing a wide variety of abilities and talents, yet despite being willing and able to work, autistic people have significantly lower employment rates compared to people belonging to any other disability category:

• Only 16% of diagnosed autistic adults are thought to be in full-time work yet over 75% would like to be in employment

That’s why we’ve launched Discover Autism Research and Employment (DARE), an autism employment programme to support companies, which is building the world’s largest evidence-base for understanding best practice for recruiting and retaining neurodiverse talent.

DARE is a globally unique collaboration between Autistica, the UK’s autism research charity, and the renowned Centre for Research in Autism and Education (CRAE) at University College London.

Through DARE, our vision is to drive a revolution in sustainable autistic employment and secure at least 5000 jobs for autistic people in the next five years.

To help us reach our vision faster, we’re looking for visionary businesses to become DARE Founding Partners, helping us rapidly grow DARE and maximise impact for autistic people, businesses and society.
